When Eric Spencer moved to Deddington in 1935 he brought with him his skills as a stonemason and bricklayer and many examples of his craftsmanship can be seen throughout the village.

Along with Eric’s enthusiasm, Richard’s natural grasp for construction lead him to successfully completing a four year brick and stone laying apprenticeship, before travelling and working in South Africa and Australia, where he was involved in the construction of Darwin’s cyclone proof Parliament building.

On returning to the UK in 1989, business naturally developed through recommendation. Richard now has a company with a team of highly skilled craftsmen who produce work to a very high standard. Richard is also a keen advocate of the apprenticeship scheme and every year takes on a new apprentice to work alongside his highly skilled tradesmen.

The company  cover all aspects of building, which are personally overseen by Richard. He is very happy to work with architects or to work direct with clients and dealing with planning and project management issues on their behalf.

Richard is very environmentally aware and where ever possible builds using eco-friendly materials for both structures and services.  The company has a wealth of experience with restoration projects and refurbishments, together with new builds either in the traditional style , making use of our handsome natural stone, or combining glass and sustainably sourced timber for  modern eco-friendly structures.  Richard has access to the latest skills & knowledge in the supply and installation of low emission eco-friendly heating systems,  ground source heat pumps and solar panel installations which blend sympathetically into the design and structure.  Each project is managed meticulously with care and precision to ensure it is completed to programme.
